
Workshops for midwives and other health professionals.
The Deaf Nest project is looking to introduce a half day 'Deaf Awarness' and 'Basic Health Signs' workshops that runs over a three hour session for midwives and other health professionals. The workshops will be held at the Manchester Deaf Centre and will involve small registration fee. You will be awarded with Deaf Awarness Certificate or Basic Health Signs Certificate that you could use for your personal and professional development. Interested? Contact me for more details.

Deaf Awarness Workshop
Deaf Awareness training course will improve your communication skills and confidence to help you break down the barriers faced by people who are Deaf or have a hearing loss.
By the end of the course, you should be able to:

Identify and implement solutions to situations where people who deaf or hard of hearing loss may face accessibility or communication barriers.

Recognise and respond to the different ways people who are Deaf or have a hearing loss may communicate.

Understand and demonstrate how you can engage and communicate with people who are Deaf or have a hearing loss.
At the end of the course, you will receive a certificate of attendance and an information pack.

Basic Health Signs
Basic Health Signs workshop will help you break down barriers in your workplace by improving your communication skills and confidence when communicating with people in BSL providing useful signing skills relevant to the health care setting.
By the end of the workshop, you should be able to:

Understand the structure of BSL

Understand how BSL differs from spoken English

Sign the alphabet and count in BSL

Introduce yourself

Give basic information at work in BSL
At the end of the course, you will receive a certificate of attendance and an information pack.
